Volunteers
Do you want to make a difference in the lives of others? Do you want to make a positive impact on the world around you? If so, you’re just the person we’re looking for. We need volunteers to share their time, care and compassion with our residents and participants at St. Paul’s Senior Homes & Services.
Your volunteer time can be spent in many different ways with our residents or the children in our day care program. You can help with activities, games, crafts, music, visiting, reading or going for a walk.
The only requirements to become a volunteer are that you must be at least 18 years old and be able to commit to a regular amount of time (at least one hour a week) for at least 6 months.
All volunteers have to be fingerprinted and receive an annual TB test.
Here’s a sample of volunteer activities.
Activity Leaders/Assistants: Call bingo, bowl, play games, or help with Happy Hour.
Craft Teachers: Share your craft skills with seniors.
Group Leader: Lead a men's support group.
Readers: Read the newspaper or magazines to poor sighted seniors.
Visitors: Visit and chat with seniors or take them out in a wheelchair.

Volunteer Profile

Volunteers share our passion of serving San Diego’s senior community.
Christine Pernetti (left) of Complexions Rx met with Evelyn Lundy, a resident of the McColl Health Center, along with Shirley Hamilton, a Certified Nursing Assistant.
Once a month, Christine comes in to provide a gentle, relaxing 20 minute facial treatment to residents restricted to their beds. Evelyn’s face lit up when Christine arrived. Evelyn smiled even more after receiving a treatment.
This is just another way that Volunteers make a difference in the lives of our residents. |
